Telling friends about this forum

thinking about telling my friend about this forum

just in-case i got really ill and they wanted to know how i was doing or something.

i’d like to think that she would be supportive and kind towards me.

what do you think?

I think it’s a great idea to have her in your corner when you need support!

If she’s shown herself to be a true friend and has been there for you, then I think you should communicate to her how you’re doing.

Just be mindful of how she might react to reading this forum. Sometimes people post about bad days and severe symptoms. And I think, for someone who’s not used to that, reading these things might be a little jarring at first. You might communicate this to her ahead of time, just to prepare her.

I hope it works out well for you!

Blessings,

Anthony

I have told one friend about this site. My kid sis found the SZ forum first and stayed in the Siblings/family forum. She told me about it. Then when I started posting, she backed off.

I found out that my Dad checks this site a bit and will read some of my post. It really helped when I wasn’t doing well and not really able to explain to what’s going on. He had a better idea of what’s going on with me. I’m pretty open about my SZ so it doesn’t upset me when he reads it.

My brother knows of this site, he has helped me post pics etc… I hope he doesn’t read the posts I wrote about him

I haven’t told family members about the specific mental health forums i post on. I have recommended the sz.com forums in the past to parents of those with schizophrenia but very few if any have then gone on to join. Could be they check it out and think it’s a predominantly US centric site so not for them.
