I have an 2 years college to become an auto mechanic, prior to sz. Then I took some random classes. I am currently working not in my field .
I’m getting my Master’s degree in industrial-organizational psychology now. I have my BA in psychology (got that while in remission).
I check the “some college” box on questionnaires. A few years of junior college and about a year at an art university. I wasn’t able to finish. But I’ve almost always worked.
I have Masters, I did my Masters’ thesis in America (a weird thing it was), I have also studies at one business school in America, language studies in Leningrad … long time has passed …
I don’t have one.
I finished 10 grade, which is semi-mandatory in my country, and I finished 11th grade in another country, but it doesn’t give me any merit here.
I really want an education and I’ve tried a gazillion times, but I just can’t seem to finish one :’(
I have two associate of applied science degrees. One is in human resource management, the other in criminal justice.
I got them both before I got sick, and while I was in the military.
I want to finish my bachelors in either philosophy, addictions and recovery, or something in the social sciences.
I went to elementary school and finished
I went to Jr high and failed 7th grade
Went to summer school and we moved
Then I quit High School in the middle of the 11th grade
and went to work. Some year’s later got my G.E.D.
High school…
Tried college twice.
First time, I didn’t last but one day in class. Freaked out to say the least and had to drop out.
Second time, I didn’t even make it past orientation.
Working part-time with certain accommodations is about all I can do with myself, in relation to the “real” world.
10th grade was as far as my sz let me go…got ged a month later… required top secret clearance for my next schooling was a year and some long… am 1 month short and 1 test of being an industrial, home and green electrician… sz let me finish eod…but not high school or electrician training…
But I always tell everyone about my education…
I have a BS from the State University of New York in Cultural Studies with a concentration in Communications.
And an MA from Western New Mexico University in Interdisciplinary Studies: my major concentration is in writing and my minor concentration is in Management Information Systems.
I’m at WNMU now working on a grad certificate in English - that way I shouldn’t have trouble teaching writing at the college level if I choose to.
All of this was done online with the exception of about 18 transfer credits from a junior college in Southern California.
I worked most of the time from age 16-29 and then started school. I decided I couldn’t do both and that education would help me most in the long run, so I quit my job waiting tables and went to school full-time. Now that seven years have passed and I am basically done with school, I am working on getting back to work.
All of my jobs were before my degrees and have been random I also used to have a couple of jobs at once:
Caretaker - hospice and elder care (6 years or so)
Retail - Rite Aid and a gift shop (1 year)
Production Manager/graphics shop (3 years)
Laser engraver (3-4 years)
Receptionist (1 year)
Tile setter’s helper (1 year)
Pizza delivery, phone solicitation, cleaner (not very long)
Food service (waitress, prep., etc. - 3.5 years)
Tutor (at least 4 years, but not sure)
Etc.
I have two college degrees that are doing me no good now unfortunately but who knows what will happen…
I have an a degree in molecular physics and one in rocket scientry from the university of south central Los Angeles
I have a BA in textiles and dropped out of my MA in illustration. Hoping to apply again to a MA again at the same art school.
I mean apply to the same MA i did before I dropped out of it.
I have a four year degree in Architecture. graduated from Oklahoma University in 1990. designed furniture and store fronts a while before settling into doing residential design for ten years…then I got sick and it was all over. It was hard for me to accept that because I put myself through college…worked really hard…oh well. I still have my degree on the wall and as my grandmother said, “they can’t ever take that from you.”
thanks for this thread 5713. i enjoyed reading the posts.
judy
I was doing fine in school, and then i was murdered.
That’s it.
I have a master’s degree in physics. Should add that I tried to go for a phd but I didn’t do to well on the gre and also the psychotic break happened.
skipped school all the time in Junior High, dropped out of High School in 10th grade and recently started attending Community College (30 years later). I am in my third quarter. Going well so far.
I have my grade 12, a computer service technician diploma and I am currently taking an office administration course on-line. I ended up in the hospital for not taking my meds during my first practicum as a computer tech then I never got hired during my second attempt so I just decided to work at a hotel and ended up staying there for 5 years. My schooling ended up being outdated after that so I ended up going to school for that for nothing.
