Brain stimulation could be used to treat cognitive deficits frequently associated with schizophrenia, according to a new study from King’s College London.
In the study, published in Brain, the researchers set out to use one particular form of neuromodulation – transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) – to see if they could undo some of these cognitive deficits in 28 people with schizophrenia. tDCS applies a small, painless electrical current across the brain through two electrodes applied to the scalp. Previous research has shown that this can improve the ‘plasticity’ of brain cells, making them more amenable to new inputs or training; in other words, it may make it eas-ier for the brain to learn.

I had 30 tDCS stimulations (2 mA, 20 minutes each) and it did nothing for me. But it may help others.
