i have four tattoos. my partner’s name, a celtic knot shamrock, a bearded dragon and a frog. i have no piercings.
You don’t have to be in ether to have tats or piercings… that’s stereotyping.
Three tattoos and one piercing
Tattoo’s yup and ear piercings, yup, 6 in one ear, 4 or 5 (haven’t worn them for a loooong time) in the other. (sheesh…My ear piercings are all from 1982, hehehe what a grandma…)
How old were you when you got your tattoos? I think it’s a mistake to get them very young, like a lot of people get their first one at 18 yrs old; I’m not even the same person I was at 18. I was at the ripe old age of 34 when I got my first one, a breast cancer ribbon on my chest, in memory of my mom. I’m 37 now, so yeah, all six of my tattoos have come in the past three years, with many more planned.
I haven’t touched my arms yet; I figure my lower legs, chest, shoulders and back will be covered before I go to my arms. There is a scar high on my right arm that I’d like to conceal with ink, maybe I could do that, since it would still be covered by a short sleeve.
Yeah it’s true. I got most of my tattoos when I was 18 (being unwell at the time was probably just an extra issue). Though, I also gave myself a very small home needle tattoo when I was 13 and it’s probably my favorite. I redid it a few times and now it looks pretty good, though it’s an Om sign and I’m not Hindu. Three of my tattoos are on my upper arms. I am grateful that I had the foresight to get my tattoos in places where they can’t be easily seen, though I have another Om sign on my ring finger and even though I got an extra wide wedding band to cover it, it shows at times.
I think with the cover-ups I just haven’t come up with an idea I really like. Probably when I do I’ll feel better about more tattoos.
Do tattoos cover up scars well? I have one on my hip from surgery and have wondered if it could be covered but I’ve seen scars covered with tattoos that looked like they bled out – maybe bad technique or wrong kind of scar?..
Yeah, if you’re going to do a coverup you should be very sure it’s something you want, awfully hard to cover up a coverup. I had one done last fall on an awful-looking tattoo I got a couple years ago.
As far as concealing a scar with ink, I’ve seen examples where it worked well, but I’m sure it depends on the type of scar and requires the right tattoo design to distract from the scar. My scar is just a small, round patch of raised skin (about the size of a dime) near the top of my right arm. When I was 17 and very depressed I lit a match and held the flame there until it burned out. I felt better the rest of that night, but yeah, got a scar out of it. I just worry about such a tattoo backfiring, making the scar even more obvious.
I’m going to wait a bit so as i’m not a retard when i get one.
Maybe i’ll get a yin, because i don’t want bill cosby raping people tattoed on me which is the darker half of that symbol.
