At my last psych stay I befriended a woman with tourettes. She had the facial ticks just like you said. Nice woman. I hope everything turned out okay for her because she was in for a long one.

Okay, this is over the internet, so I can’t tell if you meant for that to come off as rudely as it did, but even still, you can’t just get a quote from Google and act like it’s the law of the land. The word “stereotype” has a long standing connotation of referring to false attributes, and the swearing symptom is not a false attribute, just a less common one. And that’s ignoring the fact that 10% is quite a lot.
Yes, that’s the denotation of a stereotype. I’m not arguing that. I just mean that, at least in my experience, when people describe a stereotype, they tend to be referring to things that aren’t true at all.
