Thank u for the pointer. I haven’t drank on invega and don’t plan to but I usually like to enjoy a glass of wine. Which I try not to do on ap. But when the alcohol wears off my symptoms worsen. I may not be conveying myself good tonight. Having a hard night.
Yes. I understand. I would just say to gut it out and ask to go up on the Invega if needed to control the symptoms.
Yeah im 100% sure i would be on a lower dosage of the jab if i didnt drink. Booze definitely screws with the meds im on. People say why dont you just quit - but if it was that easy i would have done it by now! Beer is a blessing and a bloody curse when your unwell.
Have you tried “raising the bottom” on the boozing? I just know that for me to be able to stop, I had to hit a really ugly “bottom,” or a low point in my drinking path that I thought couldn’t be any worse.
I havent really reached any bad low point with my drinking yet. Problem is my entire social circle and mates all revolve around the local pub - and drinking soft drinks is frowned upon in there. Giving up completely would mean isolating myself from any social life i have.
Tho im hoping that to change soon - ive got home carers starting next monday - so with that social input i might be able to give up the pub and get my need for company from elsewhere.
You could also say screw it and look silly in front of your peers at the pub. Tell them, “I’m doing this for me.”
Yeah i could! But im too much of a wimp! lol I would worry too much what they think of me! and it would play on my mind. If im too succeed in quitting - ive gotta skip the pub altogether - the temptation to order a pint would be too much.
Good point. And it’s better to avoid “slippery” situations and people anyway – where you might be triggered to drink. And, again, if they don’t know about your diagnosis, you may not want to disclose.
Yeah they are all alcoholics in my pub - and altho they are MH friendly in the pub and i do get alot of support from them over issues i discuss, their solution is always a drink. They have been a great source of comfort over the years - trouble is i always end up pissed with an empty wallet and a bar tab.
Well then good luck with your new situation. Hope that works out better for you.
I dabble now and then with some Xanax, which can be very dangerous if you take too much. I smoke weed everyday, which suprisingly I think helps a lot, and I take gaba and phenibut supplements. I try to keep my intake to a minimum and directed towards easing pain/being functional than for recreation use
yes you are right it is correleted with pschosis as is getting caught with cults.weed in particular more than alcohol and smoking increaes positive symptoms of schizophrneia
