Stressed out over my sleep schedule

Slept from 2 PM to 9 PM. On such a fu-cked up sleep schedule. It’s stressing me out. I’m wasting my days away. I don’t feel productive.

Anyone have any tips? Hopefully I can sleep tonight and get myself on a decent schedule.

Sigh…

Does caffeine in the morning helps you stay awake during the day and sleep at night?

I rarely ever consume any caffeine.

Yea it can worsen anxiety for some

Caffeine also gives me heart palpitations.

I think coffee does that to me too. But I’m addicted.

I recall you saying you just lowered your olanzapine dose? Sleep disturbance(insomnia) is olanzapine most common withdrawal symptoms. For me took like 2 weeks or so to go back to normal. Apologies if I’m far off.

I’m glad your sleep went back to normal after quitting olanzapine. I’ve heard too many horror stories of people quitting to reducing their dose and they literally cant sleep at all.

I had to hard reset my sleep schedule when I finished school and moved back in with my parents briefly.

You gotta stay up.

Like for 24 hours.

Then go to bed at a decent time that next day,

And try to force yourself to follow the same exact schedule.

Like, an actual routine to let your mind and body know it’s time for bed.

Brush your teeth, put on PJs, listen to a super boring podcast until you fall asleep.

Also,

I’d say your sleep is so bad that it may warrant a sleep aid.

Have you tried just a couple Benadryl?

Or you can ask your doctor for a sleep aid.

Not all of them are controlled.

@TheCanuk that’s funny because I read the same horror stories. There was insomnia but it faded pretty quickly and was back to 100% normal.

I think you’re right, that’s probably what I have to do. Thanks man. Hope you’re doing well.

Melatonin is a good sleep aid too. 100% natural sleep aid that works to correct natural sleep cycles.

Maybe try a light caffiene in the morning like tea or soda but yeah coffee messes me up too

I have insomnia too.

I make sure I don’t have naps during the day.
I can’t but even if I could then I wouldn’t sleep at night.

I have imovane.
Doesn’t always work and sometimes only works two hours but it works most of the time even if just for two hours.

I don’t drink coffee after lunch.

Wishing us good sleep .

I read a book from Harvard that helped me. It said to

  1. always get up in the morning at the same time everyday.
  2. Never allow yourself to sleep or take naps during the day or early evening
  3. If you can’t sleep when it’s a normal evening bedtime, get out of bed and do something until you can sleep, unless it’s past the time you’re supposed to wake up in the morning.
  4. If you’re up all night, that’s ok. Just don’t go to bed until a normal bedtime the next night
  5. Do this until your circadian rhythm is back on track.

If I didn’t explain this well enough I apologize. Does it make sense to you?
