For those in the affected areas it might be a good idea to charge power banks and devices, in case of power cuts.

Im gonna leave the outside lights on. Usually when there is a storm - seagulls have a habit of headbutting the patio doors on the balcony. Couple of times its broken their necks.

But in fairness, last time there was a red warning for Storm Isha - people died and infrastructure damaged.

Well it kept me up most the night. I have managed to fall back asleep on the sofa for an hour and half this morning though with baby.

Lazy day today. Wonā€™t be going anywhere in this weather.

Get some dishes done and laundry and vacuum. Glad we did our Christmas shopping yesterday.

The real risk comes from our services being overloaded, when already under gigantic strain. Somerset for example is flooded and places all over are having power cuts. Those needing hospital, ambulances struggling, essential services like food banks, public transport cancelled/delayed, those who have life-preserving machinery .etc will all be affected. Its never just a clear cut as ā€œits not that badā€. For many, its going to be awful.

Who wrote that about London?

Iā€™m in Cornwall and slept through the worst of it. Not that bad down here just very windy.

I donā€™t think its as bad as you think, if you compare it to the hurricanes in Florida or Haiti or even going back to Katrina then you will see what a real storm is capable of, we get off lightly here in the uk, Iā€™m not going to Blow it out of proportion (pardon the pun)

Its not a comparison though is itā€¦ a lot of things are on halt at the mo around the place. People suffer for all shades and different reasons. Suffering is suffering.

You seem argumentative. As @Banjo saidā€¦.it puts strains on services.

Iā€™m not being argumentative but i hear you guys, i still dont see it as big of a deal, the services were shite anyway lol (i know we try our best)
guess what iā€™m saying is its not really affecting me, and its better that it happened when it did as i could just rest through it.

I see it a bit like when we get all in a knot about a tiny amount of snowfall then you look at whats happening in parts of Canada and it puts things into perspective.

Its ok brothers - each can think how he feels freely :hugs:

Yes of course its not as big a deal collectively as say a tsunami. But where does this end? My neighbour dying of attrition is not as bad as dying like the other person locally who died slowly of cancer? We cannot measure it like this, in a cold statistical and factual way. Human suffering is unique and nonetheless awful.

Here where its actually not that bad - trains and buses are delayed and cancelled. A lot of hospital staff were unable to get in today. Also plenty of low skill workers could not get in today so they didnā€™t get paid. 2 busy local food banks are not operational today, so hundreds locally will have to just lump it. Some people who were out and about have been hit by flying debris, only A&E is overwhelmed even more than usual and ambulances cannot get out to them.

Its not about who suffers the most, its about just making sure those who experience difficulty are ok. Ive just got back from 20 SVP runs today, and this is in a place thats not too badly in trouble.

City of London (Trademark) Square mile, is not the same as the city of London, where most people live. I have no problem with normal people who live in the UK or in the normal city of London.

When I think of storms in Europe, I think of what happened in Spain, so hopefully that isnā€™t the case for this storm. Best wishes to the recovery.

Yes, Ive been in Valencia the last month assisting with the flood and its outcome.

But my question, was who said that about London?

Oh, that is not a quote, but a ā€˜hide detailsā€™ bar, that was my own words and graphic metaphor.

I do that out of habit, or for effect, and I assume it is sometimes better for people who are not interested to just hide it or scroll past it.
