I’m looking forward to it. There used to be a butterfly garden here which closed. I’m sure I’ll find another one

It is the art by itself to capture these butterflies and moths, you actually have to write little papers when these are captured … for example, I know exactly when I captured these.

Many people may not know it, but these butterflies and moths follow the evolution, in some more polluted areas moths can be darker than in less polluted areas ., and so on …

Things were different at the time when I collected butterflies and moths, for example, they sold chloroform at the pharmacy, even I at the age of 15 was able to buy it, it was used to kill butterflies and moths, but nowadays they do not sell any longer, it is a regulated chemical, the EU directives, but many people may not know that gasoline can also be used to kill butterflies, just one drop is enough.

One way to capture a lot of moths is to use ‘valorysä’ ‘ligthtrap’, in the next morning there will be a lot of moths to be processed, I really enjoyed collecting those moths …

Another good way was to create these sweet traps and hang these in the forest, I may have had tens of these sweet traps and then I just walked in the forest and captured moths from these sweet traps … a good hobby

Sometimes I am so glad that I lived my teenage years in the countryside, because the city people never experience these things … one way was just to ride my bicycle and collect caterpillars and grow these to beautiful butterflies and moths, somehow I am sad now that I do not see so many caterpillars any longer, where have they gone …

Yes, I’m very jealous as we are heading into a cold Melbourne Winter. I guess everyone’s gotta have their turn.

Funny, one Australian who did not understand ‘sweet’ ‘honey’ traps in Sweden went to the embassy of Equador in London for many years, should have collected butterflies and moths, just my joke …

When I was 15 I researched these butterfly and moth wings with my microscope … well in the early 1980s, today they have found new, also medical applications … nanotechnology …

Just funny to look back, I had a joke when I collected butterflies and moths … no alcohol drinkers can handle these beautiful wings, maybe that this why I had my first wine glass when I was 18, however I remember preparing this sweet liquid for my sweet traps, I used certain sugar, borrowed my father’s beer and so on, well I got moths.
