I wrote this one just now.
It is called ‘Sensory Overload’:
The TV blares its frustrating tones
Anther advert seared into my bones
The laptop lays open with familiar apps
This constant bombardment
This capitalist trap
(The Chorus:)
Sensory overload
I can’t take much more of this
I will implode
Sensory starvation
The chance of salvation
Sensory overload
You pay to not hear the perpetual tunes
Their adverts embalzoned, could be tattooed
It’s almost as if they know you hate all this
This endless chase
This search for bliss
(Chorus)
The postman delivers the post everyday
littered with adverts, to the bin no delay
The radio buzzes with excited news
Then another advert comes
Ear worms placed anew.
(Chorus)
Your head starts to spin
You begin to overload
All this information
You are going to explode
You consume till your bloated
It’s all you can take
To hell with this media
My mind starts to quake
(Chorus)
It’s up to you to switch this all off
To wander in nature, barefoot if you must
For to find peace with yourself
and more importantly with others
There is more to life
Than incessant consumerism
