Some doctors don’t diagnose what they don’t understand

I’ve had a couple of doctors diagnose me with bipolar just because they weren’t familiar with schizoaffective disorder.
This was especially the case during the 1980s and 90s
I’m not sure but I still think that it’s currently the case today

My experience has been my diagnosis depended on who I saw. the current one doesn’t think I have sz. I will show you what the report said:

sorry removed

this was prior to going for my autism assessment.

If a doctor doesn’t understand something they should defer to a different doctor.

Yes they should but most don’t

Cardiologists do. I keep getting bounced around. Some pdocs, too. “Wait, you’re functional? Um. Can I refer you to a specialist?” (Not quite, but you get the idea.)
