So my "backup" packet of abilify has expired

I really don’t feel like going out to get my monthly meds this week. I’ve just got enough for a few days. No problem I thought, I have a spare box. But I just checked it and it’s past the expiration date.

So now I have to go out :persevere:

How many months or years are your MEDS past due @everhopeful?
I am now taking Depakote tabs that are 3 years old.

I think it’s fine to take MEDS that have expired, as long as they were stored safely.
Of course I would be cautious if the MEDS were expired for 5 years or more.

Woa. I’m not sure that’s a good idea.

My meds are “only” 2 months out of date, and I’m not going to risk it.

How come you’re in a situation where you’re taking meds that are 3 years out of date?

They seemed fine to me and so far no problems.
I see my psychiatrist tomorrow and I will get a new prescription for them.

Some pharmacists will tell you it’s not OK.

Others will say there are no studies on how potent the meds stay after that date.

In my country we went through a stage of donating meds that were about to expire to the third world :earth_africa:. No idea if that still happens.

I’ll just grin and bear it. I’ll work myself up to going out on Friday. Better safe than sorry.
