My son has his first sleepover tonight. His friend just arrived and they’re having a blast. I’m happy for him, and a bit nervous. I just hope it goes well. I want his friend to have a blast and tell everyone how cool his house is.
It’s silly, but I feel like I’m competing against his old house.
If I was having a sleepover I would want it to be at your house 'cus you rock. I know this kid is going to love it. I’m sure you’ll have tons of sleepovers. What did you cook/snacks? I found with my son’s friends the fastest way to their heart was good food.
When I moved, the two young men that had been there for all the sleepovers since they were 3 (15 years of sleepovers) came to see me off and get my stuff moved out to where the vehicle was picking me up. I had tears in my eyes that they came. They are like sons to me.
I ordered pizza and garlic bread and I had a discussion with my son beforehand about how I won’t enforce bedtime, but I just ask that after 10 they go into his room so I can have plausible deniability and pretend they’re asleep.
Ha, sleeping over my friends house in sixth grade.
It meant raiding the mini-bar, a glass of beer from the keg his father always had, sneaking out at 2:00 am to egg the neighbors house, stealing the basketball net from a classmate who lived down the block who left his garage door open at night, breaking into the newspaper machine for free newspapers and getting up at 6:00 am to buy chocolate milk at the store when it first opened. I loved those innocent days.
