Sick of abilify anxiety. Rang up pharmacy about Rexulti

They said that it hasn’t been released here yet :frowning: It seems like 100 years ago when it was approved in the USA.

Ive painted myself into a corner with abilify.

It’s the only thing that has worked for me. But I might be losing the battle with the anxiety it causes. And I don’t want to take another med for anxiety.

So I’ve painted myself into a corner like I said.

L-theanine is working somewhat so I could up my dose to the maximum 1200mg/day again. Actually I’ll try that tomorrow.

I take 1500 mg of L-theanine to help with my anxiety from abilify. I also take though celexa a antidepressant and hydroxine a antihistamine that helps with anxiety.

Yeah, I’ll bump up my L-theanine intake again and see how far that gets me.

I had to take Buspar and Lexapro to get a grip on my anxiety :frowning:
I hope you feel better.

Abilify anxiety nearly killed me,

It was awful.

Now I’m taking klonopin,

But I know you don’t want to take benzos.

How long have you been taking klonopin ? Is it still effective ?

I’ve been taking it for probably six months and it works as well as it ever did.

I couldn’t tolerate the anxiety and paranoia that Abilify brought on.
From Abilify I switched over to risperidone and felt less anxious, but I’m still anxious.

I think most APs make me anxious.

Good luck @everhopeful

Why stick with Abilify or Rexulti only @everhopeful?

There are plenty of other AP’s to choose from.

I would discuss your options with your psychiatrist.

Yes. I’ve tried most of them unfortunately. Abilify was the one I had success with. And rexulti is similar to abilify. It’s just russian roulette to change to rexulti but I might get desperate enough to try it.

Have you tried Vraylar which is also similar to Abilify.
There is also Latuda and Saphris, have you tried these?

Actually no I haven’t tried any of those. I’ll keep them in mind. Thanks wave.

@everhopeful I’ve been taking Klonopin for 4 and 1/2 years and it’s still effective. I don’t get addicted or raise the dose. Usually I just take it at night, but if I have a panic attack during the day, it quickly works. I had to dial 911 back in 2016 because my panic attack got so bad, my body was shaking so bad I was on the verge of passing out and couldn’t see much. I forced myself to get my phone, the EMTs came and stayed with me until the Klonopin kicked in. It works really fast

Thanks I might have to keep an open mind about my options including benzos.

I’ve been feeling more “activated” than usual.
Going to talk to her about this soon.

I’m sorry you’re suffering so much. I started taking Klonopin as a PRN back in 2013, and I haven’t developed dependency. My newly prescribed Zyprexa has taken away my panic attacks, so I haven’t needed a Klonopin since I started two weeks ago. Don’t automatically discount benzos just because you’re afraid of dependency, talk to your pdoc.

If I said no to Zyprexa just because I was afraid of weight gain, I’d be missing out on doing a lot better. Go into it with an open mind, knowing all the facts, and you might just be surprised how things turn out.

When do you figure it will be released where you’re at?
Rexulti is the successor to Abilify, right? Sounds like a good gamble

This year some time.

I’ve no idea if I’ll have the courage to try it or not though. It depends how desperate i get.
