I’ve been wanting to learn how to play for over 10 years now, could never afford it.
I’m thinking of getting one that is at most $400. That gets aedium range student cello, which is all I need to start out with. I would take lessons.
I’ve wanted to learn since I first heard an exes music, his friend played the cello in it, and I think the cello would be a beautiful sound for my music as well.
I’m getting $12k in backpay and planning on getting a car with it.
And yes I have to spend all my money in order to keep medicaid (which covers literally all of my medical bills and scripts). I’m also getting a little bit on SSI.
I play guitar and bought a mandolin. The mandolin really spices up my guitar practice. I bought a keyboard a year ago and only touched it once. I am going to practice mandolin 25 minutes every day in the afternoon. It’s my baby. I named her Angela or Angie.
I think it’s great that you want to learn cello. It’s a very hard instrument to begin with, and it’s harder, in general, to learn to plat something as an adult. So as long as you’re willing to have patience with yourself, I say go for it.
Well, it’s a beautiful instrument, isn’t it? Tough when you’re just starting though. If you are willing to stick with it even when it doesn’t sound good yet, I’d say go for it. Have your cello friend help you pick it out, always a good idea to get an instrument that will hold it’s value, if you should ever need/want to sell it.
I took up the banjo at 37 years of age and have no regrets. It’s one thing to cross off the bucket list. I even financed a well made banjo as a treat to myself and it has been worth every penny.
Just to be fair I have tried several other instruments before discovering the banjo and I couldn’t get into those instruments. So if you enjoy the instrument you can no doubt get good at it.
Let us know what you decide and perhaps even share a pic if you decide to buy a cello.
