Seeing my psychiatrist tomorrow

Here’s how it’ll go…

Them: So…

Me: I might want to increase my dosage. Give me a prescription for 15mg. I probably won’t use it. But give it to me anyway.

Them: Here it is

Me: Thanks. (Goes away and doesn’t use prescription)

I wish it was that easy to get prescription changes from my doctor. I asked for vraylar and he said he didnt know enough about it and Id have to see a psychiatrist. Its too new, he says. Its been out for a couple of years.

Good luck with your psychiatrist appointment tomorrow @everhopeful.
I would slowly increase the dose to 15mg.
You have nothing to lose.
You can always go back down to 10mg if things don’t work out for you.
Best of luck tomorrow!

Err I’m worried. Why would they increase without working to find the issue. I’m not saying your suggestion is wrong , but isn’t it for the consultant to decide

Because I wasn’t misdiagnosed. Abilify and varying it dosage is the only option available I guess.

Did you ever try geodon or zeldox ?

I am much more normal/myself on this med :sunglasses:

@everhopeful not in terms of it being a misdiagnosis … I meant sometimes there’s other solutions.

For example , if you were having sleep issues there’s sleeping tablets. So it’s important they ask.

So isn’t it better they ask in case they can find a better solution ?

But either way, he should have asked what the problem was to put it on record. Now all he has is , the patient asked for it  that doesn’t look professional but obviously I wasn’t there

I think I see where the misunderstanding is

No, I’ll be seeing them tomorrow. That original post was my prediction as to how the conversation will go.

Sorry to interfere but i always ask my doc what i want -decide or find solution. He only wants me to be okay so by far i suggested wellbutrin and i suggested zeldox and i suggested the dose. :flushed::thinking:

My doctor and I talked for months about changing to the haldol injection. Finally I was having so many problems I took the plunge.

hey,

I get ten minutes with psydoc every six weeks but I’m a great patient!

I go in with an agenda. After all I have six weeks to deal with my issues. Mind you most of my issues aren’t too bad just the same old shite that will never be addressed on these current medications!

Saying that. You need to maximise your time. If you need too. Write down what your problems are if you can’t talk them out! That will help if your doctor isn’t so good. Good old Malcolm…we talk about cricket but he picks out my mood and how logically I’m talking…it really is an art!

Seriously. The mental health system is in crisis over most of the world. You need to be involved in your treatment. You don’t want an increase in medications then…this is my side effects. This is my symptoms. You need to be your own advocate these days.

A friend in the struggle,

Yeah, that’s the trouble with invisible psychiatrists. Its very disconcerting to not know where to look while talking to them.

Hi, good morning @everhopeful hope your appointment went well? ^o^

Thanks for asking!

I got a prescription for 15mg . It’s just a trial for a few months. The doctor said I can just drop down to 10mg if it doesn’t work out.

I’ll collect the 15mg from the pharmacy later in the week.

Okie good luck.

When I was on 15 depot, I was sleeping for like 11/12 hours and just lazy and sometimes restless.

Those were the only side effects.
