Schizophrenia symptoms no more - Goodbye - way12go - last post = Truth.

The most dangerous aspect of schizophrenia is the fact, when you are in psychosis, you don’t know it. If people saw hallucinatory angels and knew it, they could just ignore them. But they don’t know.

I can’t say with absolute certainty that there is no ā€˜natural cure’ to being schizophrenic. However, I do know that I would never take the chance I fall back into that horrible pit by stopping my meds without a doctor I trust and have known for a long time telling me it is okay.

I hope you are well.

If symptoms can be kept in check with lifestyle changes, on top of taking antipsychotics, I’m all for that.

But if you take the chance based on some rumor, and stop your meds. You don’t know if you can ever come back. You don’t know even if you do realize what is going on later or if people force you to realize in a hospital that the meds will work for you again. It is better to be safe with such an important choice.

I can’t help but agree with @Futomimi. Stopping meds based on this kind of ā€œreportā€ is not logical. Additionally, the subject has only been off of medication for three weeks. That’s not a very long time to gather data. It’s also not a clinical study, so it doesn’t have any professional merit. As Futomimi said, it’s a rumor.

I hope way12go isn’t stopping his meds. If he is, good luck …

I’ve tried stopping meds and going ā€œau naturaleā€ with my diet and I ended up stuck, arguing with voices 80% of the time.

There is some influence of diet on symptoms, but it seems like a person would have to eat like a strict monk for any chance of keeping them in control without medication. However, diet and antipsychotics would work well together for that end.

Diet, exercise, all those habits are incredibly important. And they help supplement medication so much. I even take almost every vitamin known to man lol. You are exactly right. But, again to further agree with you, medication should always be the frontline defense.

Y’all are lucky. I’m on so many other meds (i.e. non-APs) that supplements and vitamins interact with almost everything. I can’t even take multi-vitamins like Centrum.

Definitely do what you can to stay physically healthy, though. Mental exercise doesn’t hurt either. Brain puzzles, reading, learning new languages, playing musical instruments, and maybe taking an interesting class or two through community education at your local community college can help keep your mind active. Sz/ Sza can affect your IQ, so do your best from letting it decline further, just like you wouldn’t want your body to deteriorate.

Just so everyone knows way12go does this on a regular basis and always ends up coming back here bc the thing didn’t work and then trying to find some other ā€œnaturalā€ remedy.

I’m hoping at some point they can realize from all their posts on here how often they have tried this and failed and will start to learn from their mistakes.

The Wahls protocol is basically a stricter paleo diet that Dr. Wahls used to cure herself of multiple sclerosis. There could be something to it.

Short version of it is to eat 9 servings of vegetables and fruits a day, eat good quality protein, cut out wheat and dairy and sweeteners, and use oil sparingly, no deep-fried stuff, but you can still make bacon and burger patties and sauteed vegetables with it.
