Schizophrenia for dummies?

schizophrenia for dummies is the book my partner read when I first got diagnosed with schizophrenia in the hospital. @notmoses is that a bad book for a family member to read? she didn’t like the other books she said they made her feel stupid.

It’s a very good book - highly rated.

One of my favorite books on schizophrenia.

There’s an interesting reaction.

It’s a fine and dandy book. Just like Torrey’s. But far from as sophisticated, deep or complex. (So let’s be happy she didn’t read that one, I guess.) ( :sunglasses: )

I’ve read a more than a dozen books on schizophrenia. Like the name suggests, “Schizophrenia for Dummies” is the easiest to understand. It’s pretty comprehensive too. If someone knows nothing or very little about schizophrenia I think this book would be a great start to learn about the disease.

I’ve read a bunch of them, my favorite so far is

It’s a good book geared towards consumers from US. Most of the resources are useful only for consumers form US. Another one I personally find good- Surviving Schizophrenia by E. Fuller Torrey. You might find it bit threatening if you’re opposed to psychiatry but I believe it’s more practical.
