I did something really stupid this year. It pains me to even think about it. I got my first CD player in 1996. I bought my first CD’s from a record club I think. The clubs where if you join you get 10 or 15 CD’s for free if you buy 6 more at full price in the next two years. Rip-offs.
Anyways, through the years I bought many CD’s at record stores and I eventually had a collection of about 250 CD’s. I moved into this place last year and I have no room for a CD player or 250 CD’s. But my sister offered to copy all my CD’s onto some music player and she also put on the player a bunch of her own CD’s.
Anyways, after all my CD’s were copied I took them to a music store to sell and got a measly $60 or $7O for the bunch except some of them they did not buy. So I gave the rest to my neighbors to look through and I gave him some and he gave me $5 or $10.
But it finally dawned on me that I should have kept a bunch of the CD’s to play in my CD player in my car. At the time I was selling them it didn’t even occur to me to save the best ones for my car. I completely forgot about that until after I had sold them. I have a few CD’s that were already in my car but they are mostly
From an Aerosmith box set and a John Lennon box set. So I have about 9 Aerosmith CD’s which I have never actually liked all the songs and about 8 Lennon CD’s which I only like about a third of the songs. A music critic made the point about post-Beatles recordings by Lennon, that he put out about 7 or 8 solo CD’s but probably no one could name more than four or 5 songs that were actually hits or were memorable out of all his music. Man, I’m just kicking myself for doing something so stupid.
I do stuff like that all the time, I went and bought all new screw drivers bits cause I thought I had none, turned out i had a special tool box just for them full LOL
My car doesn’t have an MP3 player either. Sorry about your cds, @77nick77. On the other hand, my husband has a few hundred cds in cardboard boxes in the garage that I can only hope he’ll get rid of this summer. He has an MP3 player in his car…
I’ve worn out a number of cds. My favorites get scratched and cooked in my car… there’s more than one way to lose them.
Well almost everything is on youtube or amazone prime…you can listen to your favorite music on those sites and dont need cds. Except driving in the car i guess its different.
I had a car impounded once that had my entire CD collection. Probably close to 300. I’ve tried to build it up again, I’m one of the rare people that still buys CDs. Never got into digital music, except Pandora on my phone, but I still keep a CD player in my bathroom to listen in the shower
20 years ago, when I had my first episode, I gave all my vinyl (probably about 150 records) to a charity shop along with my turntable. Every now and then I wish I still had them and regret it but its just more clutter to take up room in the end. It’s all available on the internet and vinyl sucks anyway. I think CDs will have gone the same way in another decade.
Genius has its limits but stupidity not so much same goes for insanity. Basically don’t be so hard on yourself.
Is all venting on-line helping much? Seems that time would of been better spent in therapy. How much you would moved on instead of constantly posting the same crap again again.
