Say Anything C is for Custard 🍮

Will you be in a hospital/treatment centre for clinical skills. I wonder what the philosophy is about

Mine are:

Corporate Financial Strategy
Management Accounting/Performance Evaluation
Financial Statement Analysis
Institution Investors Behaviour and Trends

First two compulsory, second pair is chosen.

first one is self explanatory, second one is what my brother and brother in law do so I’ve got an idea of it too. third one I’ve chosen on purpose because if I ever do business or investment , I think it’ll prove useful but I’m doubting I will go into business now. final one is the economic module - I’ll probably do a dissertation on this subject; in particular financial crises and (policy) solutions of financial crises as I’ve already started researching this stuff (my first degree dissertation was on this topic)

My closest professional job was in sales for Samsung - so also not in economics. I’m worried about having to learn coding at the next level - economics doesn’t make sense without data and data needs programming

in my economics studies we did our econometric analyses in Eviews.

I did also have computer science courses and learned some basic programming, but I hated that. It was very boring to me.

And Yes! There is a clinic next to the school, where I’ll have to do some shadowing in the first year. We also have to shadow an external chiropractor. So already in the first year there is already a lot of practical training.

My professional experience started also in Sales, but then I moved on to customer support, business analysis and corporate strategy. I was part of a Business Graduate Program and got to do a lot of international assignments @AppleKidd

I also used Eviews for econometrics lol.

I never did, it wasn’t covered in my curriculum. But the reality is that I intend to and have to work with data so I’ll have to take it up probably at masters (just pass the module is enough to prove to employers I can do it) the rest I’ll just fluke as I go along in my own time

That’s good, it will become relatable straight away - that’s something I struggle with. I like being able to see the end results of what I’m planning to do so that I can decipher how much I’ll might enjoy it.

I’ve noticed two economists have gotten work just by being active on their own blogs for economics, I’m now glad that I’ve decided to be proactive (this is my version of practical training ahah)

There are a lot of Finfluencers who try to tell you how to invest or make money. It’s an entire sector :grinning:

The courses I disliked the most were Accountancy and Computer Science.

The courses I enjoyed the most were Philosophy, Logic, Economic History, Game Theory,…

Yeah I see it now and then on YouTube, it’s a farce in my eyes. you can’t predict stocks - full stop. you can just sell the idea that you’re good at predicting stuff by being well read imo

I dislike the professional development courses most. I liked the monetary policy and financial crises topics most

My interest is more categorised as finance - financial crisis and monetary policy - than economics; but in my eyes finance is all applied economics any way.

Ah, what a coincidence, my younger brother was doing a business graduate programme too, for British Telecoms; has since moved on companies though

I get spammed by Finfluencers in my Facebook feed :grinning:

I quit working in 2012 so it feels like a different life. But still grateful I got to experience the lifestyle and travel the world.

I’m sure there are exciting opportunities for you out there. I just have moved on from that world and found myself.

Yeah I hear you, I wanna be able to travel one day - if ever possible. I’ve only been to South Asia (Bangladesh) literally, no where else.

I want some of those good vibes in my Facebook feed. But recently I was following the stock markets a lot and I bet the algorithm could tell. Luckily that is in the past. I only have stocks left in my retirement fund and I can’t sell those :grinning:

The one final year module I scored terrible in (just a pass) in my first degree left a really bad taste in me regarding monetary economics. It was on quantity theory of money ; something at the time I said was largely nonsense and now am finding that economists have largely abandoned it because of that reason. Central Banks like the Federal Reserve and the Bank of England do not even acknowledge it as science anymore - so I’m glad about that.

Edit. I’m starting to feel sleepy, time for a nap I think. I have like nothing better to do

Wish I had a bath tub

The real estate company that sold my student studio launched an ad on Facebook and are using my Google Review in it and put my name under it.

They should have asked me first if I was okay with that. But I won’t make a deal out of it.

Good morning yall
