It would be interesting to know if Irish people get schizophrenia significantly more often than other ethnic groups. I’m of Irish descent.
Maybe a genetic relationship to the disease and we have more of those genes in our gene pool?
I don’t believe that to be the case. It has been found that members of the African Caribbean community are nine times more likely to suffer from schizophrenia than people in the white community. And I think any minority integrating with another culture is vulnerable to psychosis which is kind of understandable really. I imagine it must fuel some form of paranoia.
