Gluten and Schizophrenia Prevalence

Hi everyone,

This article states that non-gluten consuming nations only have a 1 in 65,000 incidence of schizophrenia:

Does anyone know if this is true? That figure sounds a bit exaggerated to me.

If anyone could shed any light, I would be very grateful!

This article tends to reinforce the commodity hypothesis of schizophrenia. Genetics basement of the disorder seems to be linked to the evolution (com-modification) of the species and emerged at the Neanderthals age.

Commodity is closely linked with the neolithic revolution when food regime of the species changed with the introduction of milk and cereals, therefore of major gluten dosage.

It’s not my illness’s cause. I took this test that said I likely had gluten intolerance. But I had very little gluten in my diet at the time. And I had digestive issues, which got worse later. And then trying different diets, I found that eating a lot more bread helped my stomach a lot.

But that test I took was said to be like 75% accurate or something.

I tried a strictly gluten free diet for 2 months to see if my symptoms improved at all. Nothing changed so I quit the diet. There is a lot of misinformation and people pushing gluten free, but I think it’s worth a try to see if it somehow helps you.

I quit gluten for 9 weeks. Sadly it made no difference. Unless you have to quit for minimum of 3 months. Plus it’s expensive going gluten free. But if it helps anyone that’s cool.

I’m going gluten free after Christmas. I went gluten free before, but only for 9 weeks. This time I’m trying gluten free for at least 5 months to see how it works.
