Rough couple of weeks with positive symptoms

My stress load at work is off the charts thanks to several sketchy gravel haulers causing issues all at the same time. I have somehow become the “problem solver” in my work cluster so everything was dumped on my desk simultaneously. I’m being told to collect from these people without upsetting them or losing their business. They’re all sketchy. In our industry the term we use for sketchy people is: Moral hazard. One has had a couple of impaireds and has a blow box in his truck to keep him from driving drunk at work. I’d like to be able to tell them all to fxxx off and I cannot.

I haven’t used an emergency Ativan yet, but I am close, and my head is so goddamn noisy right now. I can’t go calm down on a lake in the evening because we now have fall weather.

Time for a vacation once you get this current round of problems sorted.

I burned up most of this years vacation running inlaws to and from the doctor. I have none left.

I would go for the Ativan at this point
Even if it’s for a week

It could help you gain some ground

There’s a lot of stigma based on benzos however they save lives

Idk in your position what to do but there’s a thing called a “stress leave” where you get a doctor to give you time off to unwind if you can I’d go for it

If you can’t go on the lake for now then you need something else to replace it

Keep strong shutterbug bug… You’ll find a way to handle them and then it won’t be Soo hard. I know it’s your job but just remember you can only do what u can do… Solve the issue in the best way you can but don’t let those sketchy dudes ruin your day man…

Can U go for a walk @shutterbug ?

Long walks generally calm me down and give me time to think.

Hope U feel better dude.

I agree with @anon57786250 . If you can’t go to the lake I would go for a long walk.

Maybe spend some extra quality time with the cat. That might do you some good as well.

Or make one of your famous home-made lattes. That might cheer you up.

What I also like to do when I’m stressed and have to do something is to put some good music on.

I hope you can get a bit of a break and your symptoms improve.

Don’t let your employer overwork you into a medical crisis or, worse yet, into an early grave. No matter how good of a performer you are at work, if you quit, retire, or drop dead, your emp!oyer will move on as if you never existed. Those are the cold hard facts.

That’s been my personal experience with every employer I worked for.

Same. I recently retired after a 38 year career with the same company and that was my experience. I also noticed the same thing when my co-workers left over the years – Poof! Gone! – it’s as if they never existed. :unamused:

When I previously work for Amazon, my coworker told me once I left because of a medical emergency and eventually quit my job which my manager was aware I had a medical emergency. Said “it was such a shame he had great numbers.”

I didn’t know you retired @Moonbeam .

Happy retirement!

I’ve heard that in the US retired people can get super cheap tuition. Is that something you consider?

Thanks! I don’t know yet what benefits or opportunities are available to retired people since I’m a newbie.

Most towns have programs for the retired people to do such as woodworking or something I think look on google maybe it will get you something too do

You may have overcommitted.

The responsible thing to do is to tell your boss that your workload is too heavy, which prevents you, and your cluster, from working at peak performance. It’s much more likely that your boss will appreciate your honesty instead of firing you. And your credibility will actually increase.

However, if you present a problem to your boss, you should also try to present a solution. Thus don’t just tell your boss that your workload is too heavy which prevents you from working at peak performance, but suggest to your boss that some of the work needs to be delegated to other employees to maximize productivity for the cluster and the company.
