Risperidone -> Prolactin

Taking risperidone will increase prolactin wich causes a reduction of testosterone on males.

I’ve read somewhere in the forum that if you take risperidone + small dose of aripiprazole → reduces prolactin.

Anyone knows why doctors don’t usually prescribe both?

Low testosterone sucks… no wonder I feel tired all the time

I take 6mg daily of risperidone and also an injection of invega trinza 819mg every three months and I’m not sure about prolactin but I have sexual dysfunctions due to stuff that happened to me earlier in my life but I’m sure the aps I take don’t help.

Yeah I am on risperidone and although my prolactin levels are not that high they are high enough.

I suffer with low testosterone and sexual dysfunction and now I have to deal with galactorrhea.

Fun times!

Invega was love/hate med for me. The first year on it was hell - anxiety and walking zombie. After a year i added escitalopram to my Invega and I was able to study and work. My pecker worked while on Invega, just I had no ejaculation going on. The more damage to sexual function was done on escitalopram. High prolactin also made me to gain over 40kgs in 5 months and then stabilized. I was able to lose half of this weight

In the US there were class action lawsuits against big pharma for risperidone. Due to the gyno and lactation.
