Repeating myself....why?

okay i always repeat myself…over a day…or longer on one or two subjects ? :grimacing:
yes i know mrs. sith is a saint for staying with me  !!
but does anyone know why it happens ?
is it sz ?
or ocd ?
or something else…like anxiety ?
i never thought it was a mental illness untill yesterday…
i am going to ask my therapist in 8 days…but any insight i would be grateful.
i am trying to get rid of it. :imp:

For me it’s a confidence thing… I’m not sure if I expressed myself well so I try to find other ways to say what I was trying to say…

But I just end up saying the same thing again and again.

Sometimes if feels like the word salad is kicking in… because of that… I find I repeat myself in hopes of keeping my sentences in a logical flow.

Good luck and I hope some answers come to you… :bug:  (bug high 5… or high 20… many hands)

It’s only a problem if you think it is…

I’d say… don’t think of it as a problem…

Think of it as making sure your understood.

If other people don’t notice… and it doesn’t bother Mrs. Sith… your doing fine.

Sounds just like my wife. I think she is looking for an answer one she has already predetermined in her mind. she will ask the same question a few times and then change it till she understands it or the solution presents itself or it falls into a predefined set of allowed answers. I normally just smile and tell her I love her and try to find that place that will ease her thoughts about the subject. Write the thought down and then try to find out why it is so important to you, try to find the solution on paper and then keep doing this till you no longer need it.

Due to not doing much I tend to repeat myself quite a lot in terms of describing what I’ve done and how I feel . I dread it when people ask me “what have you done recently?”

My sisters pointed out that I tell the same stories about the same things too much. So I catch myself doing it and try to stop.

I find getting a “life” difficult. Being socially isolated with no friends isn’t a path to doing lots of things and having lots to say.
To be fair mental health services are trying to push outside activities like drop ins and an over 50s club but I can see myself going and literally sitting in a corner somewhere unless someone approaches me first( I am hesitant to approach first and struggle with initiating conversation).

I’m awful about doing this. My roommate has a terrible memory and has trained me to just keep repeating things as if for the first time (it makes telling jokes easy, I already know which ones will make her laugh ). But now I do it to everyone! I have to get better about this.

who says your repeating yourself? are you forgetting you said something and then repeat yourself having forgotten it
