These findings may be explained by the modification of brain from long-term exposure to antipsychotics making discontinuation more difficult, greater treatment resistance, or severity of illness in late discontinuers.
I think when many people are attempting to stop they are rushed. I have read here and other places some take as little as 6 months while others are 2 years.
