So recently a member known for stirring up things and arguing with mods constantly posted about their new, wo derful forum “home”. You may have heard in PM abput the forum in question in PM or invited to go.
We do not try to restrict anyone from joining or posting on other forums. However, I was interested in what made this forum so special, so I popped over to check out their rules and TOS. Maybe we here could learn something and make this place better. ( i did not make an account, so I cannot view posts, nor do I want to)
Well, their rules are very similar to ours. In fact, possibly even more restrictions. Their terms of service are ridiculous. They take on research studies, some paid, and by signing up you agree to be contacted by email by those researchers.
This means your info is stored and possibly sold. At least made available researchers. They also sell books.
The former assumption on moderation may be incorrect. It may be better than assumed, though a member would need to make that judgement themselves.
They also seem to allow anyone to apply to be a mod. That may seem attractiveuntul you realize darn near anyone with active psychosis could be moderator.
Also, you are not allowed to PM mods there.
Guys, there’s a reason we moderate hard. It’s to keep people safe. We’re human and make mistakes, but we are always open to discuss and come to agreements or reverse decisions if we did make a mistake.
We do not have access to your email. The software has it, hidden, for password resets.
We do not accept paid research. That might change one day, but we would never sell your info or force you to participate.
We are not ad supported.
The Admin team pays the bills. You never need to buy a thing from this site.
Mods are handpicked by current mods nd Admins. If one of us goes off the rails, we can lose our status.
I really want to say that we genuinely care for you. From Admin to mod, this site is a labor of love. If you want to go elsewhere, go for it. In all but the most extreme circumstances, you’re always welcome back.
But please, be safe and read all rules and TOS before putting your mental health out there.
Peace.
