Heat, anything Quinton Tarantino, the departed, will farell movies, Ted, Ted 2
I notice that no one ever asks ME to recommend a good movie.
Like, ever.
I have a funny story about this movie. It involved porn and a minister of the church
Well, we watched Napoleon dynamite first, the movie she wanted to watch, which someone here recommended. It wasnt bad. Funny at parts.
Then we started to watch Bram Stokers, but she was disturbed by the scene where draculas brides went after Keanu Reeves, she called it porn, so I did not make her finish watching.
She doesnt want me watching it alone either. She calls it porn. lol.
Got into a bit of an argument about that. Controlling IMO.
She is a bit more sensitive to a couple breasts on the big screen than I wouldve suspected. I had no idea she would be so squeamish about something which, in my opinion, is not that big a deal.
Thank you for your recommendations @Corian
Oh dear. She wouldn’t even last five minutes around me. If that.
One of my favorites is The Royal Tenenbaums. Overall I’d classify it as a drama, but there’s a lot of comedy mixed in. Quirky comedy. Phenomenal cast: Gene Hackman, Anjelica Huston, Bill Murray, Danny Glover, Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson, Ben Stiller, Gwyneth Paltrow… and Alec Baldwin as the voice of the narrator. It’s a Wes Anderson film.
I could make quite a few comedy suggestions, such as Baseketball, Orgazmo, Fear of a Black Hat, Wet Hot American Summer, could go on and on, but my sense of humor tends to be a bit odd. Man, I want to watch Baseketball now lol.
Thank you for all the suggestions @freakonaleash
@Bowens and you all know my cinematic tastes could probably land someone in a mental institution in a less free country.
But I have a couple semi normal movies to recommend.
The first, “The Big Lebowski.” It’s weird, it’s funny, and it even has a little philosophy in it.
The second, “The Chimes at Midnight.” It’s an older black and white movie that Orson Welles made on a very limited budget. It’s very old timey England in the dialogue, but it’s a brilliant work of art. Good movie to watch around Christmas time or when it’s really cold outside.
Definitely stand your ground on your man cave. Men need a place where they can retreat and be by themselves away from their wives from time to time. It’s healthy. It’s productive. don’t let her take that man cave away from you
Porn and the minister of the church. That does not surprise me. Christians should not even be looking at porn. “Christians”
What woman would want her husband looking at somebody else’s boobs? I don’t think any woman would want that and it’s an insult. It’s like a slap in the face that if you have to look at another woman then I’m not good enough for you. That’s the way I feel about it. I think other woman do too
Good movies that I like to rewatch all the time are the karate kid movies and the Rocky movies. The Help was pretty good as well. If you’re in the really goofy comedies” The Princess Bride” would be a good one.
Himalaya
Into the wild
Spirited away
Howls moving castle
Memoirs of a geisha
No @Loke he was a pious man. Basically the story goes that as a kid my sister attended Sunday school. This was led by the minister.
Once a year as a treat they would have a ‘video night’. The kids got to vote on which movie to rent from blockbuster.
The kids all wanted ‘flash Gordon’. This was a big movie at the time.
The minister dutifully went to the video store but accidentally picked up the soft core ‘flesh Gordon’ by mistake.
So he came back and put the movie on to the horror of the poor little Sunday school kids!
An honest mistake!! But hilarious all the same.
I like to think the guys in the video Store were like ‘darn. He’s the fifth minister to rent that movie this week!’
Lol
Thank you for the suggestions @Montezuma @DNAsaur
Thank you for the support on the “man cave” @Loke . On the boobs thing, its not like I was watching the movie for the boobs…its Dracula…I just feel like cutting every movie with nudity out now is a bit much. Dracula is a horror , not a porn. Now I cant watch Return of the Living dead because there is a bit of nudity? What about the first terminator where Arnold is wearing his birthday suit? Does this count too? Most of these films are not primarily about nudity, its just a brief part of them and I feel I’m old enough to watch them without burying my head in a pillow when a breast is on screen for 15 seconds out of a 2 hour run time.
Thats my view anyway. I’m mature enough I shouldnt need to avoid an entire film because of one scene.
Oh, and thank you for the movie suggestions.
Roadie is my fave movie…it stars meat loaf, art carney, gaillard sartain (genius comic), alice cooper, blondie, hank williams jr. and roy orbison.
thanks @jukebox
