I prefer audiobooks or ebooks. I like my Kindle but like books formatted into short essays. I have a pretty good book on mindfulness exercises on my Kindle that I use often.
I do like workbooks and guided journals though.
(This reminds me: For some odd reason I read Howard Stern’s book “Private Parts” while I was in the psych hospital many years ago. It was a pretty thick book but I guess I managed to focus on it despite having a breakdown a couple days before.)
I relisten to some audiobooks a lot. Right now I keep on repeating the Audible version of “Atomic Habits” since a lot of the behavioral and operant condition stuff seems to apply to me.
Reading has always been my favorite past time since I was a year old. Yes I started reading as an infant. Now, I routinely read up to three to five books at the same time.
I like to read both fiction and nonfiction, in both English and Spanish.
I prefer books in their printed formats and I always buy them as such.
My alter doesn’t want me to read. We’ve been wrestling with it for many years. My mind has grown dim, I am burned out, I read a few pages today. The decision to read or not is made for me. I’ve got my guitar and mandolin and drawing.
