Im worried about getting reliant on another med
But i know im totally bonkers
Well, they must help a little, millions are prescribed to people.
Personally, I don’t know if mine help; can’t tell.
They probably don’t help everyone, but enough people are helped that they keep prescribing them.
Thanks @77nick77
I just read about numbness emotionally but i really can’t pinpoint the actual cause. It could be any number of things or just simply the antipsychotic causing it. Im reliant on AP so i dunno what the answer is
I take Wellbutrin and sometimes I’m able to experience happiness. I love that feeling.
Fluoxetine/prozac helps me
Taking the antipsychotics really numbs me out. Wellbutrin has helped with that.
It’s hard for me to say if they help me. I am naturally moody, so I don’t know if a change in my mood is due to my system or due to a med. I’m taking sertraline too. I think it helps me sleep. That’s probably one of the things it is supposed to do.
Me too. At first Wellbutrin made me a little spooky, like I was going to hallucinate or something, but that went away, and it has been a good med. for me.
Idk.
Zoloft was truly effortless for me. Had no effect. But I know for many ppl antidepressants help. My pdoc has a whole theory about me. It’s like, that my dopamine is truly working not well, while serotonin is quite OK. That’s why serotonin meds has no effect on me.
I am now prescribed Prozac. I will start it just in case if my depression will be worse. Now it’s a bit better than before, so I have this idea to keep Prozac for future.
How can you be sure that happiness isn’t just a drug?
It’s biochemistry, so meds can help.
im not numb but zoloft definitely helped when i was going through extreme depression and feeling suicidal and a plethora of other mental messed up stuff i experienced after withdrawing from clonazepam
How do you make any conclusion? There are at least two dozen antidepressants. Trial and error is depressing in itself.
What was horrible for others might be best one for you. And other way around.
I had tried sertraline. It numbed me. So no more anxiety or depression. I have tried escitalopram. Another SSRI. Really good for anxiety and depression for me. I notice pleasant things of life. Oh! This is what being normal feels moment for me. Doesn’t numb me out. But it disrupts sleep. I recently stopped it for second time.
Mirtazapine helps me with sleep without noticeable side effects. Useless apart from that. I am going to stop it within month or two.
It doesn’t change underlying biology. After you stop problems might return.
I’d just like to thank you all for good replies. I think im going to stay off them because i think its not going to make a huge difference to me
I was on Cipralex, Cymbalta, and a few other anti depressants for a few years in my 20s.
They never helped.
They made me sleep more and I just felt like a zombie.
But it’s different for everyone.
My heads a mess all the time, thoughts out of control almost. Theres no answer or solution. I try to manage with help from parents and hubby but im a mess
They help. It takes a long time to know if you are on the right medication. They say you can do blood tests to see what medication works for your body chemistry.

I am on antipsychotic injection but i struggle a lot. I have so many things affecting my quality of life. Symptoms vary from day to day depending on mood, level of pressures and external factors like going out or stresses. I have lots of intrusive thoughts and paranoia. I struggle with having mental illness schizophrenia and personality disorder and anxiety and it all affects the way i think and feel. Thats the best i can explain it. Do you also struggle?
