Oy vey.

Mental illness is sooo hot right now.

Of course trendy, edgy teenagers are going to say that.

Besides, they can’t properly differentiate between life problems and mental problems at that age.

Of course that doesn’t go for everyone.

There are mentally ill youth.

I was one of them.

But I don’t trust these statistics anymore.

Some online poll done by teenagers couldn’t mean less to me.

This tracks with my experience of teenagers. I would say at least a quarter of them have issues that could be diagnosed. Most often, I see PTSD stuff from the pandemic.

I definitely could have used an AD med in my teens. My parents were busy being drunks so it didn’t get noticed by them. Oh well. I am 39 and grateful to be getting treatment at this point in my life. :grinning:

It’s the digital revolution. The experts disagree on this, but I’m pretty sure it’s not good for people to spend many hours every day on devices and checking their mobile 100+ times a day. There was a survey over here how many times people checked their phone in a day, and the result was 100+ times average.

It’s possible to use devices sensible, but the problem is it’s so addictive and many people are unable to control themselves.

People have been around for thousands of years, but computer technology for the public has only been around for 30-40years. And mobile device smart phones and tablets only for about 15 years. It takes time for human kind to adapt. Things are moving along too fast.

Most people don’t know their own good when it comes to screen technology. I know it’s a problem for myself but I still struggle. I know I spend too much time on devices, but it’s hard to control it. It’s gotten better the last few years, but I still have a way to go to feel I’m in the driverseat.

Kids gtowing up nowadays spend way too much time on devices. I understand they have to learn the wave of the future, but they also need to learn self control and what’s good for them.
