Psychosis Scare

Hey,
I need help so I’m doing this. I got diagnosed a little over a year ago. I had a psychosis which was really bad. I felt what it’s like to completely lose control and I’m terrified of that happening again. Right now, I can’t eat again or sleep. I’m hearing things again, a knocking like someones at the door. I’m seeing people walking by my car when I go out and there’s no one, and I’m scared. To leave my room, and my paranoia is very high. I got back into school but I can’t follow what the assignments are saying and I’m feeling all of this getting worse. Getting a text is like the end of the world because I don’t know what to respond. I used to have my husband to help but he left and now I don’t know what to do. How do others keep appointments and go to them? And also tips for staying on medication, any kind of tips. My family isn’t supportive, they hate hearing about this stuff so any help please.

  1. Have a routine and follow it.
  2. Get support from anywhere (this place is good)
  3. Use distractions to keep your mind off of things.
  4. See your pdoc regularly
  5. Keep busy.
  6. Take your medication on time (if you miss a dose, take the next one scheduled)

Just to name a few, hope this helps …

You might also want to look into NAMI, the National Association for Mental Illness. They have support groups for people with MI, and support groups can go a long way for someone who feels alone in this. You should be able to search groups by your area HERE.

Welcome to the forum! I hope you find the support here that you need to receive.

Do you see a psychiatrist? When is your next appointment?

Yes, @lj24, if you don’t have family support, it’s important that you develop an outside support system around you. Get a psychiatrist. Get a therapist. Contact your local NAMI chapter for your state. Utilize this website: forum.schizophrenia.com as much as you can.

We are a very friendly and supportive bunch of folks here and we are extremely welcoming to everybody who are like us. We will welcome you.
