Poll: are you bookworm?

I’m back reading after a very long break. Up to psychosis at 29 I would read two to three books a week. I read lots but after psychosis I didn’t read for ages. Probably 3 or so books a year if that.

A couple of years ago I started reading again and forcing myself too. It has gotten easier and I started with easy things like Harry Potter before moving to more advanced works. Currently I try to read at least a chapter a night although most nights I do more…and I read one non fiction and one fiction book. I’m re-reading the Lord of the Rings at the moment.

So. I’ve found that reading is important but so hard with sz. Some perserverance helps and it’s getting easier for me for sure.

I read a lot over the years. I figured I’d read more than 10,000 hours. I just don’t have anything to prove as far as reading goes

It’s not about proving anything. It’s enjoying the written word and the ideas and vistas it provides for our minds.

Does it take work for you to read?

It takes some discipline. That is awefully hard for me but I am progressing well.

I have the same problem.

As a child I read a few books, only a few. A couple of them I truly loved. But I passed up that gift. I was lost in the imagination. I began reading shortly before getting sick to improve my songwriting ability. I had a growth spurt at the same time I got sick. My visions and voices compelled me to read, but I never did love it like before. One author can open the door to the world of books, I know.

used to be, since I’m a writer,
and to be a writer, you have to read Everything.
but these days I’m not reading, or writing.
I have my reasons.

I went to the library a couple of weeks ago when i was deeply depressed and picked up 3 books, the first one im reading is biography of a journalist who falls off her horse and ends up paralysed but its her journey that is interesting and it captures humanity of the family and medical team helping her through it.
Other two i haven’t started yet, one is called bad choices, the other the secret diary and growing pains of Adrian Mole.
I like watching 24hrs in accident & emergency because i like stories that resonate give me a better perspective on humanity
My head is so filled with doom & gloom usually so its like a mental vacation

Hi, The book is translated into Chinese and I read the Chinese version. In general, the book portrays the Frenchman and Britisher did fur business with native Indians and the conflict among them.

Also, the found of New France and the forming of the big cities such as Montreal and the forming of the Country. Also, the book mentions the relations with U.S.

I have been a bookworm all my life despite the concentration issues I had after the diagnosis. I enjoyed reading and read almost everything I have.

I have been, in the past. There were times when I read avidly. Now, not so much. The last book I read was “Anna Karinina” about two years ago.

I LOVE books. As I sit here, there are 9 books within my reach that are in various stages of being read. I’m a stickler for actual physical books, something about the printed word, the tangibility of holding a real book in my hands, that I don’t get from electronic media. I’m not a collector, because for me books are to be read, not to be put on a shelf. But yes, I’m a bookworm, I read constantly. Always have.
