In this study only intelligence was measured accurately, the rest being left to self-reporting and its concomitant biases. The report makes clear that much more study is needed. There are always pros and cons, and this particular study only seems to show an intelligence boost in children who report playing video games in non-clinical settings. I would like to see much more controlled studies, and certainly the jury is out on this question. But for better or worse, video games are here to stay and I say hurray for that. I expect that they have other perhaps even more significant benefits for growing minds. We’ll have to wait and see.
