People say I have no emotion

People I know tell me Im very unemotional and I was wondering if this is a symptom of schizophrenia. I find it hard to connect with people and to feel really anything

I don’t show my emotion, sometimes I have flat affect. But I still have emotions, but not like I used to before I got sick. There’s definitely a dulling of emotions for me now. I’ll be interested to see what other people say.

I rarely have any emotion about anything now that I think about it, I guess that is called flat affect like you said

People never say I have no emotions even though I don’t. I attribute this to the meds. Because before meds I had too much emotion. I’m sza.

I think what they really mean is they can’t read you because they can’t read subtlety. So you have to manually show expression so you won’t be such a mystery to them.----------------------------------------

I also have apathy, my psychiatrist wrote it in my diagnosis. I feel empty, it all started with catatonia for me. I felt the most emotionless while being catatonic.

I have too much emotion. Meds suppress it. I cannot cry on meds or get sad. I’m just average.

My emotions don’t work like they use too.
I’m flatlined when it comes to having emotions.

I got too much emotion now. Brain is healing. It’s overwhelming. I feel girlish.

Crier a few times today, it was actually starting to get annoying.

See the lack of facial expression of this girl in video. This is extreme blunted affect. It can occur in small degree in some. Also you can notice reduced hand swings while she walk, postures hand in a fixed position when talking etc. This is also another form of blunted affect linked with motor or movement.

I have blunted affect as well. Not 100% flat, fortunately. It has gotten better.

How blunted affect reduced? Took any medicine or supplement?

No. I even reduced my AP dosage.
By living an almost stress free life and dealing with past trauma (hint: lots of weeping involved) I somehow improved my emotional responses. I can laugh if the joke is good, shed a tear at emotional movies or feel anger if things don’t go my way.

For me phosphatidylserine supplement helps to reduce blunted affect. Myo inositol supplement also help but that create memory problems.

I think blunt affect is partly natural for SZA but I also think that meds can make it worse. I know that I felt very emotionless for a while and had to get onto different drugs and dosages before my normal sense of self came back.

I think its truly a tough call when you judge what symptoms need to be addressed by your medications and what side effects you accept into your life.

I’m bad about having flat affect. It’s a common trait among sz’s.
