People pretending to have Schizophrenia

It is legal for people on SSDI to work $1070 a month (below $700 is prefered unless you want to start full-time work again); people on SSI can work but rules are stricter. Get counseling before proceeding.,

Put it down to jealousy. When I was at my worst and couldn’t work at all, I was envious of and angry at those with this condition who were working or enjoying some sort of financial success. Yeah, you can work with SZ, but it’s like trying to sail a boat with a leak. It feels like the time that those with non-leaky boats would spend lounging on the deck is spent bailing by those of us with SZ. Am I jealous of them? You bet! But… I’d rather have a leaky sailboat to travel in than none at all.

ok Carleygee since you want to claim I have my doubts and I do it’s only because you don’t take meds. you didn’t mention that as why I don’t think you are schizophrenic. You don’t take meds, but you’re all “I am so functional” that is why I doubt it. flag this malvok

@jukebox i believe John Nash also refused meds and is still one of the most successful faces of SZ.

John Nash takes his meds if you will remember in the movie.

I went for a few stretches without meds. I guess I am lucky that I can maintain a minimum level of function while off medications, but I would have been a nicer and more effective person if I had not decided I knew best. Very grateful for the support I received while off meds as it helped me make the (correct, I believe) decision to approach my pdoc about finding something that worked better for me (Geodon).

But I am functional (most of the time) and I just got medicated 2 days ago… What if she is faking, but, is suicidal from depression issues and wanted more attention? Who are we to judge? Everyone has issues. I like you jukebox but you are confusing me on this one.

@jukebox No he refused them but has no qualms about asking others if the person he’s talking to is real. That is how got through the illness.

ok I’ll stand down. I just get really uncomfortable when someone seems to do so well with multiple complications, doesn’t take meds, but functions at a high level. I would become delusional again I know if I stopped taking my meds. that’s my only gripe.

I understand. I know most of the people on this forum are much more symptomatic than I am. You guys are my heroes! I couldn’t imagine being in your shoes. Few of us ended up with less symptomatic schizophrenia, but, it’s still very hard.

@jukebox SZA can be a lot different then SZ. But then again no two SZ’s are the same anyway.

You can have all the doubts in the world, calling someone out as a liar and fake isn’t cool. How do we know you have schizophrenia? How do we know anyone on this forum has schizophrenia? We don’t.

It just makes me uncomfortable how you yourself doesn’t realize it “isn’t cool” to be saying you’re fine when you aren’t on meds. you are a moderator and I think it’s all a game to you to see how much you can make me mad.

Get with the times man. I quit days ago.

well, I’m sorry I thought you were o k as a moderator. I guess you didn’t want to do it if you couldn’t lock threads while you have the last say? a power trip, right?

Where did she say she was fine?

Say what you want @jukebox. Just remember my comments are no longer constrained by being a moderator.

She showed no sign of delusion is my point? I do apologize it won’t happen again. I’m sorry for jabbing you malvok. I truly like you. I am just a bit razzled that no one else seems to think that “everybody” on this board who is stable on meds should indeed say that meds are necessary.
