I was searching for article that can provide knowledge of different types of hallucinations in different sociaties.
It’s like wether is difference in hallucination of religious belief system in non religious countries.
Also, would like to know how our pattern of hallucinations are same.
For example, hallucinating chips in head, TV talking to us etc.
If someone like @everhopeful had it posted, I 'd like to see link, because my search went in vain.
Schizophrenia is manifested differently in different cultures, often according to the sociocentricity of the culture. Psychiatrists often differ in their diagnoses and treatment of schizophrenic patients due to their own culture and the perception of their patients’ race and culture ¹. However, I could not find any specific delusions that are unique to different societies.
Schizophrenia is a complex mental disorder that affects people from all cultures and backgrounds. While there are some common symptoms of schizophrenia, such as delusions and hallucinations, the specific content of these symptoms can vary across cultures ¹. For example, in Western cultures, delusions may involve themes of persecution or grandiosity, while in non-Western cultures, delusions may involve themes of possession or supernatural forces ².
The specific content of delusions can also vary within cultures based on factors such as age, gender, and socioeconomic status ³. Additionally, cultural factors such as stigma and discrimination can affect the experience of schizophrenia and the likelihood of seeking treatment ¹.
From my own experiences id say whatever you are heavily focused on or cultural upbringing will be what your hallucinations and delusions center around.
My voices used to do this thing where they would say they had some revolutionary knowledge to bring forward. They would use a bunch stuff id read about and forgotten about months prior. So id end up thinking it really was genius and revolutionary. It would end up bringing me back to a delusion that I was one of a chosen few to bring forth all this new stuff. Basically centering around a ‘Prophet’ delusion’ which was religious based.
