Patients With Neurological Disorders Show Interest in Neuromodulation

“Neuromodulation alters the nerve activity in the brain through different deliveries of stimulus, including electrical stimulation of chemical agents. According to a review of 35 studies, 49% of patients with major psychiatric disorders—including schizophrenia, depressive, and bipolar disorders—were non-adherent to their psychotropic medication. The rates were 56%, 50%, and 44% for each psychiatric disorder, respectively.”

So 56 out of 100 schizophrenic patients don’t take meds as prescribed?

I’m not shocked. I would not blame the patients either.

Many are not stable enough and their insight is compromised.
For others meds give unbearable side effects.
Lastly, a few believe they’ve been misdiagnosed (wishful thinking) once they start feeling good again.

The problem is that my relapse rate without meds is 100%.

Sorry, I forgot to put the link.

The neuromodulation approach seems suitable as a treatment method for those who cannot properly follow medication prescriptions. I want to know what level of availability these treatments have and if they provide beneficial effects beyond the short-term.
