Our lifestyle choices? Yes. But just as much is the idiotically prejudicial attitude of far too many health professionals. A classic example? My falls in Oct 2021. Essential treatment delayed because the pain was ‘psychological’ according to paramedics and the GP. Zero responsibility admitted when it was found out they were wrong. Instead they used my autism and SMI to justify the way they behaved. Yet it was my daughter who started the negligence claim because she was disgusted at the way I was treated.
The intellectually cretinous claim that it only delayed full recovery by a week. The stark reality? Over 4 years later I’m still getting level 6-7 pain, if upright(moving or static) for more than 10 minutes. I haven’t been outside for a walk on my own in over 4 years(since the falls). The risk of another fall is too great. The immense damage it would do. I wouldn’t feel safe on my own, outside in wide open spaces. Pleasure wise a walk outside is far more pleasurable than walking back and forth in a small flat(with the stroller) . It’s the mobility equivalent of needing to eat more, but all you can eat is buttered toast.
Even being accompanied outside, for more than very short distances it would be walk a bit then rest on the seat for a while walk a bit etc etc.
