Parents say Minnesota’s involuntary commitment system failed their sons. What should change

My mental health issues started shortly after moving to Minnesota in August 2013. I didn’t end up in the psych ward until September 2015 then a psychiatrist diagnosed me with schizophrenia and I was involuntarily committed. It was a big waste of time. I just watched TV all day every day and went to worthless groups and they didn’t give me enough food. A psychiatrist also got me court ordered to take an antipsychotic even though I wasn’t a danger to myself or anyone else. That’s six months of my life I’m never getting back.
