I’ll be the first to admit that I can be not overly ‘wordly wise’. I made a ‘friend’ on Bluesky and Facebook. She wanted to know more and more about me and those I’m close to. I got increasingly suspicious. Ended up blocking her.

Facebook is full of scammers and bots and and links that set off those “warning:your computer has been infected” scam things and such stuff. My fiance had a couple scam accounts and that warning thingy and she doesnt go to questionable sites or porn sites or anything. Facebook is garbage these days. Full of scams an malicious software. YOu cant be too cautious on it.
My aunts facebook was hacked by someone speaking a language she couldnt understand. I think she said he changed all the text to his language.
I dont even want to get into my own experiences with Facebook. Bots, Scammers, software, horrific posts of dead and dying animals with maggots. Etc
Facebook has its uses but it really has gone downhill.

If someone is being randomly kind these days, I’d say there’s room for suspicion. They are extremely extremely common. Thing about it. In some countries the best possible outcome for some people is to make $10 a day… Or … they can sit on Facebook all day from home messaging people and score hundreds or thousands of dollars from unsuspecting people with a good heart. They even pray on people with dementia and such who might not have their mental facilities in tact and often get 10’s of thousands of dollars. If someone is being randomly kind I’d definitely think it’s a scam.

In all likelihood she was after something. Not friendship in the good sense anyway.

An increasingly large red flag for me were the inconsistencies. That always tends to make me wary(non bizarrely paranoid). That combined with the extreme inquisitiveness.
