I’m up late. It’s about 2 a.m. I have gone through a med change. The dreaded zyprexa withdrawal and insomnia - I have been put on a tiny dose of zyprexa. Any med change is hard on you. I’ll try to not have anxiety about the future: will I have sleep problems? I figure The UK is about 7 a.m. and the rest of Europe even later. This is when the forum is dead as a door nail. I’m listening to Jamaican music.
I don’t know how long it will take you for the insomnia to clear but for me it was about 2 weeks
I quit 20mg Olanzapine cold turkey
@Joker That sounds intense as!!
@Jinx
Sleep is always the first thing to go before my mood elevates. Latuda is only indicated for bipolar depression, not the mania that was probably part of their decision-making progress.
Mania is like wildfire. It’s a lot easier to put out while it’s still a campfire. Consequently taking an extra 5mg is dual action in the sense that you get a good night’s sleep which will help prevent maina. Also, it will put out the ‘fire’ before it spirals out of control. In reality, taking a little extra zyprexa when you need it could actually be the best way for you to keep your total dose as low as possible.
Staying out of the hospital and working closely with your doctor is the best way to keep your dose low.
Doxylamine might help plug the gap since one of the primary mechanisms of AP sedation is via the histamine receptors. I would give full baseline at least a proper month, the first 2 weeks of any med change are always the worst.
Also, think about how long it took for you to build tolerance. I will probably take just as long to unwind all the receptors.
