One day of my life in Moscow, the USSR

It was March 1987 and I was a student. I wanted to go to Moscow where my sister studied. My mother had prepared two suitcases full of clothes for me to take there. And so I flew from Helsinki to Moscow and when I arrived at the international airport of Moscow the customs officer asked whose all these suitcases were. I told they were mine. In the reality I took them to my sister who when sold these clothes in the market of Moscow. People wanted the western clothing. After I passed through the customs I took a taxi to Hotel Inturist where I stayed. It was said to be the KGB hotel. However I did not spend my first night at the hotel but my sister took me to their dormitory elsewhere in Moscow. I slept there my first night in the room that was shared by Tanja and Olga. I woke up in the following morning and then we proceeded to go to the Red Square. It was very interesting to walk in the Square and visit Saint Basil’s cathedral. We did not go to Lenin’s Mausoleum. We also went to the big department store GUM that was located near the Red Square. After this we went to the area of the greatest national achievements where they had one computer tradeshow. The Warsaw Pact countries presented their computers and other high tech achievements. It was my first high tech tradeshow. And the time passed and we ate and drank something. We had a lot of Soviet roubles because the exchange rate in the black market was good. And then the night arrived and we went to Diplomat’s Club, it was a night club and there were no other similar clubs in the whole Moscow. We drank and dined and listened to music and saw one dancer dancing to music. Then after a few hours I was left alone at the club when others went to their places. I stayed there for some time and then I took a taxi and went to my hotel, Hotel Inturist where I slept my night. This was one day of my life in Moscow 36 years ago.
