I have been off and on olanzapine many times. I was always able to sleep without olanzapine when I stopped it and was trying something different for an antipsychotic. Don’t believe everything you read would be my advice. I’d never even heard of this before I came here to be honest. @TheCanuk
For about a year, it didn’t help my psychosis. It was even milder than Abilify. One pdoc said I am treatment resistent and wanted me on Clozapine. I said no way put me back on Abilify as it worked before.
I was on that drug. It was sedating. I was on it two months. I was grateful to go off though. It hit my blood sugar, put me in DKA and pancreatitis. It’s a very bad drug for people with type 1 diabetes.
I have been taking zyprexa since 1996 off and on and I always slept best on it. The type of zyprexa I take is called lybalvi and it has an appetite suppressant added to it but many people can’t get it because of the high price. I only take 10 mg. I sleep well and don’t oversleep ( at least I can’t blame it on meds ) and I don’t have a huge appetite. I suffered much due to the medicine and had anger issues over it but it works despite the side effects.
I’m on Olanzapine 15mg. It is a clean drug for me. It does cause weight gain and it does increase my appetite but the benefits outweigh the bad. I am sleeping well on it. I was on Lybalvi back when it was covered under my insurance, now it’s not. Never experienced withdrawal from Olanzapine, when I was getting off Geodon I did experience withdrawal symptoms.
