Oh my god I can't take this

My teeth are badly infected and so much pain. I feel like smashing my head against the wall. Nothing helps. Oh god take me now.

Oh my goodness, you really weren’t kidding when you said in your previous post that your teeth are causing you a lot of grief!! Tooth pain is notoriously bad, and you’re right, there isn’t a lot medication wise that helps relieve it. Is it possible to see your doctor to get some antibiotics for the infection to settle that down? That’s about the only thing i can think of to suggest that would help reduce your discomfort. I know money’s tight for you but this has to be your top need seeing as it is causing you so much pain. Can you family help?

Get to a doctor first. I get a lot of root abscess’ and you need to get rid of that infection first. Antibiotics then dentist. It’s no fun but tooth pain makes me a wimp! I can stand most pain pretty easy but tooth pain is nuts!

I’ve been putting crushed garlic on a broken tooth when the pain comes back.

It burns but it kills it after a few applications.

Salt water rinsing helps too.

Just have to avoid making it worse with sugars and stuff.

Okay well that’s a start i guess. Sucks that you couldn’t get a sooner appointment. Try the salt water rinse as others have suggested or use some mouthwash (avoid the mouthwash that contains alcohol if you can because that’ll hurt like crazy) in the meantime. Otherwise take regular pain relief to try and keep on top of the discomfort. Don’t know if codeine is still over the counter over there in the US (it isn’t here anymore in Australia), but you could try and line yourself up some of that if it is still over the counter. When codeine is metabolised it turns into low dose morphine. May help provide some better relief than just Paracetamol alone.

sorry your’e suffering, Tuesday isn’t too far away, but I know it can’t be soon enough.

The problem with psych meds is they cut the saliva in our mouths

and that’s what you need to have healthy teeth. sucks.

@FatMama I have a LOT of teeth trouble. Abscesses and broken teth before inally getting each pulled. Right now I have a broken molar and one above it going.

I found out that cloves numb the pain better than oragel. Just make a past with crushed or powdered cloves and rub it on and on the affected tooth. I promise it numbs. Feels grainy and tastes funky, but works!

I agree with @anon4362788. Yes, cloves work.

I’ve always had weak teeth. Even before psych meds. Always ate too much candy.

Right now, I have a cracked tooth. (A filling fell out). I’m trying to get ahold of the dental clinic. They usually don’t respond to my calls so, I gotta keep bugging them. If that doesn’t work, I will ask my nurse to try and get their attention. That usually works. They pay attention to staff but not patients.

Don’t dentists do emergency appointments in canada? You could have an infection.

How do you make a paste from cloves?

Back in the early 1970’s, they didn’t have Oragel. So, you had to use cloves. You just ground it up with a mortar and pestle and applied, I think. I really don’t remember how I applied it. I was about 13 or 14 years old at the time and I’m now 58 years old so, that was a long time ago. You can Google it today. You can also grind it up in a blender with a little water, I think.

i use extra ibuprofen because i am so overweight, even if you don’t have a cavity germ meds cause dry mouth which damages teeth, salt or vinegar damages teeth, acids in food are rough on teeth, hard foods like prime rib or jawbreakers are rough on teeth. i tried brushing my teeth with salt once, damn most pain I’ve ever been in. prisons used to have inmates brush with salt.

When my dentist checked me out and said I’d probably be needing a root canal they prescribed me pain meds pre-emptively to take in case it started hurting before the appointment to get it done, next time see if you can ask for something similar. I never ended up needing to use them but am holding onto them in case I ever wind up in a similar situation and need immediate relief.

I know your pain. My bridge of 15 years slightly moved allowing access of plaque to my bridge tooth. It was agony and my face swelled up with an infection.

Paracetemol didn’t really cut it, so I tried ibuprofen. It helped more than the paracetemol, for half an hour after taking half an hour to relive the pain in the first place. I then cycled a couple of days sticking to the recommended dosage, although I wanted to take more.

I had to go to an emergency dentist that couldn’t do anything but give me antibiotics, as they can’t do anything until that is resolved. The tooth died in the next few days and the pain went away.

I had to have the bridge removed a couple of days ago and have minor surgery of which I had today at a separate hospital. It all went well.

The pain though is something I will not forget. It was unbearable at times. I broke my finger once and it was nothing compared to the tooth pain. I had to wait until it died completely and i yelled and nearly cried over it.

Hang in there. Get the antibiotics and then get the treatment. I thought I could tough it out with ibuprofen, but had to make the emergency visit because I couldn’t take it any longer.
