Obsessive-Compulsive

Anyone here have obsessive-compulsive disorder? I have it and schizophrenia, been struggling with obsessions today.

I count in 3’s and 12’s. When i walk I need to step on lines on the floor or certain other strange patterns. I pace around and count. It’s OCD but I don’t have it severe I don’t think, just the counting stuff.

I don’t have OCD, but having worked with a lot of sz pts, I see it along with sz on occasion. Makes sense. If you stop and think about it, OCD is a dandy defense against ā€œinvasive thoughtsā€ because it keeps you busy.

I have an obsessive thoughts not exactly followed with compulsive actions.
I used to be self harmful idk if that counts to ocd.

I’ve got a weird behavioral problem, but I don’t think it is OCD.

I have OCD - It gets to be frustrating, I think that the Lamictal that I take triggers it more

I’m on celexa for my ocd

Interesting about the Lamictal lamotrigine. Never heard that before. Have you ever tried Luvox fluvoxamine? It was s.o.p. for OCD years ago. Also, DBT for OCD can be very helpful for some. See http://ocd.about.com/od/treatment/fl/OCD-DBT-Skills.htm. DBT is a =widely= research-proven psychotherapy for all manner of dx’s. It’s great stuff.

I cannot take antidepressants of any kind - it will trigger mixed/manic episodes

I’ve got some obsessions. I attribute numbers to words and count up the ā€˜points’ in each sentence. I also count objects an the spaces between objects with the goal of always getting to a multiple of five. My therapist says it’s a coping mechanism.

If sz is co-morbid with bipolar, I agree, for sure. (I know about this from =nasty= direct, personal experience.) But adfalcon may not have manic-depressive issues.

I was speaking for myself - I thought that you were addressing me - sure, many others can tolerate antidepressant treatment

yes, it is my favorite illness…

Yes, I don’t talk about it but I do. I often think that I just ran into someone or ran over a person or dog. I get anxious and look in the rear view mirror. I also check my doors twice sometimes three times. I sterlize my body being going to bed. I never step on the last step of stairs. I often can’t remember what I just said and think I said the worst thing possible.

I had OCD as a kid. Got rid of it by myself. Still have tendancies to get stuck in OCD thinking but I stop myself before I get stuck in the wheel.

How I did? I was 12. Hated the OCD so much. Did not have a name for it. I hit a lamp post with my right hand and not my left. I yelled ā€œCome and kill me then!ā€ And kept walking. I got anxiety from hell. But I survived, and hit the next lamp post with my right hand. Not my left.

For me it’s little boxes… I have to… HAVE TO open them all… I just have to. I try not to… but I can’t let it go until I do.

sometimes I get into a loop of some kind and can’t let something go.

I have ocd its annoying. I cant stop using the bathroom i swear i ho at least 30 times a day… also i tend to obsess over whatever im doing in my life. If im doing painting i cant stop looking up different techniques and things to do and related… it will not leave my mind until i focus on so.ething else. The worst is when its negative…
