According to the researchers in the Nature review, the only conclusion that can be drawn from the history of research on schizophrenia’s genetics is that there is simply no one set of genes that determine whether a person will develop schizophrenia. No single causal variant of genes has been found to claim culprit for the genetic makeup of schizophrenia.
In other words and in plain English, they don’t have a clue.
And lifestyle factors of ancestors do increase the likelihood of developing certain illnesses.
You keep 20 gen of mice obese, and lock them up so they can barely move, and the 21st gen will be born fatter.
My ancestors were around during the partition of India, and Bangladesh, so idk if nay of that war stress triggered something bad to passed on. Probably minimal, but still.
People are f*cking dumb. Schizophrenia is so hard to treat because it is often caught in the late stages. Yet we know that SCZ also runs in families, so why then are the children in these families neglected?
These kids should have early screening and interventions …
It’s pitiful that this isn’t done.
Yeah they don’t know how it works. All psychiatry is just guesswork and winging it and chance from what ive seen. But it seems like for now its pretty much our only option.
Both the mum and dad of a mate of mine had severe schizophrenia. He is completely fine.
We’ve discovered so much about existence over the years. But consciousness and the mind still baffles us.
This reminds me of what it would sound like if I were to try and explain “What happened to me?” or “What is wrong with me?” to anyone but in particular a psychiatrist and they would discount my thinking as confused or not valid.
