No craving for alcohol on Zoloft so far

Sure I’m on naltrexone too. And I googled it and it said increase in cravings for alcohol??? Rather than decrease. I had 1 beer on Saturday or Sunday I forget . It hasn’t been long really. But I’m kinda scared to drink on the Zoloft. I feel like being sober for some reason is the way to go easily. I hope it lasts. Don’t wanna go to AA because I don’t like it. But I won’t drink today. Then tomorrow maybe I will say the same thing. Just really not in the mood. I credit the Zoloft for putting me out of the mood. Anyone know about antidepressants and cravings for depressant drugs and sobriety in general.

Maybe it proves the Zoloft is working. And I was depressed so I was drinking. And stressed and anxious. And the Zoloft is helping that so the cravings are less.

Once I got on APs my interest in drinking disappeared.

I was craving booze, cigarettes and benzos. Then I upped my abilify to 15mg like you and those cravings seem to have gone away. So I think med changes can make a difference.

I was an addict since day 1. After my first puff of weed I thought I would be high the rest of my life and immediately became an every day smoker. I thought it was my “thing”. The first time I drank I woke up the next morning and drank another 1 1/2 White Russians then drove to community service. Started drinking 2-4 shots sporadically throughout each day with the occasional getting drunk here and there.

The antipsychotics didn’t help me because they were forced on me and didn’t help my cravings. So I got used to drinking on antipsychotics as bad as that is…

When I started naltrexone over a year and a half ago I’ve only gotten drunk like 5 times since but still drink socially. I hate alcohol now but still have done it recently hoping the addiction could end completely because it sucks. I’ve done other drugs but won’t go into that. I don’t regret 95% of my experiences with drugs. But then there’s the 5%, which stand out.

Now Zoloft hopefully puts me over the top so I can be sober. I just don’t feel comfortable being sober even with naltrexone which is designed for alcohol cravings. But in an ideal world I would be sober. After a while no one wants to keep using Addict or not.

Cigs eh??? I got a new e cig. It’s still kangertech but cheaper hence not as nice. It was the only kangertech they had. I dropped my other too many times.

Yeah, I think it was a general “self destruction” theme.

Kangertech are a good brand.

Well I’m glad you’re feeling much better. We were both on 10 mg abilify. Now at the same time we both switched to 15 mg. Twins!!!

Abilify 15mg for the win!

I had my last drink on Monday 26th June after getting drunk and falling out of the bed.
I promised my wife I wouldn’t drink anymore and have started taking antidepressants too.

I think that is fantastic. Then you’ll say the same thing tomorrow.

Good luck @Goyankees I think Wellbutrin helps me and med change decreased my alcohol consumption like around 80-90% :o) Now I am only a social drinker.

Don’t want to spoil the good thoughts but I drank like a fish on Zoloft and it made me manic too which I think helped me to drink even more.

Zoloft did however take away a lot of panic and fear I had and enabled me to function at a much higher level

I also drank like a fish on it. And started getting manic from the zoloft leading to doing loads more drugs and what not when I was on it
