Hey all. I just randomly googled schizophrenia forum and was brought to here. I’ve always wanted to be apart of discussions about this illness as I have been diagnosed schizoaffective.

A little backstory about myself…
-I have been “struggling” with paranoia since I was a young child (around 5-6 y/o). Very similar to the
Truman Syndrome. Has evolved over the many years. (I’m 19 now, almost 20)
-I started to get very, very depressed starting seventh grade.
-I started to hallucinate (that I know of) around late 8th grade
-I have some delusions… but I won’t get into those yet
-Oh ya, I also have ADD
-I was originally diagnosed with Major Depression Recurrent with Psychosis, but it was officially changed to schizoaffective as of a year or so ago.

Life has not been easy for me (is it really easy for anyone, though?). I have attempted suicide handfuls of times and have been hospitalized 6 or 7 times. I struggle daily battling my psychosis and depression.

I really hope that being on here will help me learn to cope in new ways and get new ideas from all of you.

Welcome to the forum

Welcome to the forum. I also have schizoaffective disorder (sza) I was also diagnosed with mdd w/ psychotic features until recently when they changed it to sza. I hope you find it helpful to meet people with your same story. It helped me feel less like a freak to come here and hear all the other stories that sound like I could have written them myself.

Welcome, dear.

Welcome to the forum! I also have schizoaffective disorder, though I have bipolar-type.

Welcome to the forum! It’s a great place to be.

I’m unsure what to think about childhood onset

on the one hand, the parents on the other forums

try tricking their kids, and making them think they’re crazy
nobody should go through mental health care as a child,

in my opinion, don’t give anyone a reason to think they’re weird.
But on the other hand, teens are the least likely to get help

and fall through the cracks, and I’ve heard horror stories of
teen suicide in my area.
