Hmmm…any tips?

Just be yourself. Everybody here is pretty non-judgemental for the most part. We’re all crackers in our own special way, so pull up a chair and start chiming in!

Welcome! As long as you don’t go starting any drama you’ll get along fine here. As for tips for psychosis my big three are
-Have regular socialization, don’t let yourself become isolated
-Have routine, have a schedule to your days and activity to keep your mind busy
-Always get 8 or more hours of sleep

Well I live with schizoaffective disorder or just schizophrenia. I’m starting to learn how to deal with it and when breakdowns come on I try to tell myself to calm down, but it never works. I’m new here. I just got my shot about a week ago, so I’m feeling fine now, but I had a little breakdown about allittle over a week ago. Kind of scared me like they always do, but I’ve been through it all and it really takes a toll on your mind and body. So anyone wanting to chat how to cope would be cool. I Always remember we need medication for the rest of our lives to help us cope with life and keep ourselves out of our minds.

I get the invega shot once a month cause taking pills everyday is just too much for me, and I forget or think I’m fine then quit my medication so pills are out of the question. My Invega shot really helps me, but I got scared about allittle over a week ago when I lost touch with reality again and started shouting at my Dad when I’m in the house by myself, and also he passed away allittle over 10 years ago.

they wanted to put me on the 3 month invega shot, so I said why not. I got my shot then 2 months later had the breakdown. But I know why I did. My doctor only gave me like 200 mg when I should of gotten 900 mg. She pretty much ■■■■■■ me over, and don’t care about her patients at all. My Doctor doesn’t give any anxiety medication , and I don’t want to sound like a junkie (and by the way I’m not) , but I wish sometimes she would give me something like attivan, kolonopin, or xanax for my anxiety because those are the only medications that help my anxiety.

Believe me I know, I’ve been on drug cocktails ever since I’ve been 16 and the only medication that helps is the Benzodiazapines. I try to watch a movie with my wife , but can’t sit still long enough for the movie, and when I feel like breakdowns are coming on they help calm me down and bring me back to reality. Not to mention the anxiety everyday I have because I barely eat because my stomach is in knots all day. I might eat a half a sandwich and bowl of cereal the whole day because my anxiety causing my stomach to knot up.

And the only thing that takes those knots out are those medications. I hope I don’t sound like a junkie or something, just really know what works for me and what doesn’t cause like I said, I’ve been taking drug cocktails since 16. Melatonin doesn’t work and the nightime medications don’t help me sleep either.

I’m really in a rough patch right now although I think I have gotten allittle bit of control over the disease when it comes on. I’ve had schizo since I was about 14, but didn’t get diagnosed til I was 27. I really don’t feel comfortable going into what I think in my breakdowns, but maybe if I hear some others stories it will compel me to tell my story.

Thank You for helping me out and reading this.

The same tips I give everyone:

  1. Meds as directed.
  2. Therapy.
  3. CBT.
  4. Recovery-oriented attitude. (Keep a recovery journal.)
  5. Supplements that are actually PROVEN to work (Sarcosine).
  6. Healthy diet and regular exercise.

I just read up on sarcosine and read reviews on here and I have to say I really liked it. I liked it enough that I just ordered a Month Supply of it from brainvitaminz. Going to see how it works and if it does work for me at all. Hopefully I see a change and maybe this will help me
